From Overgiving to On Purpose

My Journey Back to Myself

For most of my life, I was the woman who could handle it all. As a school leader in the U.S., I was deeply committed to my students, my staff, and the work of building strong, values-based learning communities. I prided myself on showing up—clear, calm, and capable—no matter what was going on behind the scenes.

But over time, I realized I was running on empty. I had the skills, the systems, and the credentials—but I was losing myself in the pace of it all. I knew something needed to change.

So I made a bold move: I stepped away from leadership and took a teaching role in Brunei. What began as a professional shift became a personal reckoning. I had space to reflect. To feel. To heal. I returned to my yoga mat. I started practicing breathwork and meditation not as performance, but as presence. I finally gave myself permission to pause—and everything changed.

Breathwork became my anchor. 
It reminded me that
stress is part of life, but suffering doesn’t have to be. 
Meditation helped me listen to my own inner compass. 
Coaching reconnected me with my love for guiding others—this time, from a grounded place.

Now, I’m a high school principal in Central America and the founder of The Hiatus Space—a home for high-achieving women who are ready to stop over-functioning, honor their boundaries, and move through life with clarity and calm.

I’ve returned to leadership, but on my terms. 
This time, I lead from wholeness—not hustle. 
And I offer the same to the women I support.

Because I believe rest is not a reward. 
Your breath holds more wisdom than your calendar. 
And clarity begins the moment you stop pushing and start listening.
